‘After five years I’m still not done learning new things’
Robin (32) joined Presspage five years ago. After studying communication and with a keen interest in tech, working as a Customer Success Manager was a match! She immediately likes the hands-on mentality and the dynamics of the start-up and after a while she seizes the opportunity to become CSM team lead. Good for Presspage, great for her own personal growth. And now that the company is in the scale-up phase, she expects to learn a lot again.
‘We want to grow, so there’s a lot that needs to be done. There is a sense of urgency to achieve our goal as a team. That’s why we are looking for people who have that mentality, go-getters who like it when each day brings new challenges and who want to build something beautiful as a team.
The CSM team currently consists of four people, including myself. We contribute to Presspage's growth ambition by focusing on added value for our customers and new opportunities. Presspage works with a subscription model, so it is very important that we – proactively – show our customers how to get the most out of our services. Which clients can use advice or training to better manage their PR through our platform? Could this multinational perhaps better achieve its communication objectives by setting up separate accounts for local markets? In doing so we are also the eyes and ears for Presspage.’
‘The reasons I've been here for 5 years now, are the exact reasons why it's great to work at Presspage. We have a very cool product. We work in a niche that’s full of opportunities, both personally and professionally. And we work with very big names. You get a glimpse of the communication strategy of large corporations. For me that’s a bonus. In addition, being part of a scale up makes things very exciting. There are a lot of moving elements, which can sometimes make you dizzy, but I think it's a great challenge.
I feel very much at ease as a female team lead in a tech company. In the CSM-team lead scene, about 50% are women and Presspage there has always been a healthy mix. Fun fact: I am the first woman within Presspage to become a mother. But as soon as I broke the news you saw that same scale up mentality: I was told ‘We don't have all the answers, but we're going to figure it out and make sure everything is arranged for you’. And that's exactly what happened.’
‘With around 40 people, Presspage isn’t a big company. For everything we want to accomplish, we have to really work together. Team up. Together you just go faster. We know very well that to achieve our goal, we have to set out and do things, try things out, innovate. Trust is a very important factor in this. You rely on each other to get the job done in the best way possible. You have to have confidence in your colleagues and in the direction we are going as a company.
That combination of focus and trust makes Presspage a great place to work. We work hard, but we also have fun together. We joke around, have drinks together after work. It doesn't matter what team you're in, and whether you're a manager or not, everyone talks to each other. There are no ‘islands’, we are one team on a mission. Right before I joined Presspage I was traveling. In a way I still am. We’re moving towards new horizons with a great bunch of people. Isn’t that the best?’
